Doggie Teeth Cleaning

Recently, I was talking to one of my clients about his concern for his dog’s teeth. He had unsuccessfully tried to use finger toothbrushes in an attempt to clean them but his dog seemed less than pleased and cooperative. My client had mentioned looking into taking the dog to the veterinarian, who offers cleaning with anesthesia. The procedural cost was, of course, more on the expensive side. On his behalf, I did a little research and found an alternative!

Turns out, a local pet bakery/boutique is now offering anesthesia-free doggie teeth cleaning! I called Woof Gang Bakery and spoke to the owner, Crystal Chisholm. She was very helpful in answering all the questions and concerns my client had expressed. We exchanged pertinent information about the dog and set up the appointment for the following Saturday.

As we walked into the beautiful store, we were greeted by Crystal and the registered dental hygienist, Chris. Chris inquired additional information on the dog and was eager to get started, as the cleaning can take between 30-60 minutes. Crystal was kind enough to call me when the job was finished.

When I arrived, I found a happy dog with a sparkling clean smile! Chris explained to me that since his teeth had not been cleaned for some time, he would have a slight stain on his molars. This had been expected, as it had been years since his last cleaning attempt. Which goes to show, keeping your dogs’ chompers clean and maintained not only effects the appearance of their teeth but most importantly, their health.

Woof Gang Bakery will be offering anesthesia-free doggie teeth cleaning again on Saturday, July 17th from 9am-4pm. They are located at 1809 S. Osprey Avenue, Sarasota, FL 34239. Call for an appointment – (941) 312-5233.
